Keep Your Laser Engraver Machine Cool For Best Results

A laser engraver machine contains a laser and a computer. The laser rotates the beam on a precisely calibrated computer software program, causing the laser fiber to excite atoms in the metal used in the engraving. The laser then transfers the energy to the object being engraved and causes the atoms to vibrate producing the engravings. The control of the laser is set by a user through a series of computer commands. The laser usually operates at a maximum rate of thirty frames per second and can vary according to the equipment being used.

There are various types of laser engraver machines, depending upon the application. In a monomolecular laser engraver machine, the laser beam is directed onto a piece of material without altering the existing surface. The resulting laser engraving tends to be very precise. In a multipolar machine, the laser is allowed to rotate either clockwise or counterclockwise in order to make the desired pattern. In a bipolar machine, the laser engraving tends to be less precise, as the machine alternately flips over the polarity heads.

Some of these laser engraver machines use a micro-electric charge to flip over the heads, which is done automatically by the flip of a switch or a remote control. Micro-electrode charges are also used, using a small battery. Some engravers have laser engraving performed on pieces of glass, mirror compartments etc. Others are fitted with a light emitting diode (LED) or an ionization chamber, which produces a charged bead on the focus. The laser beam strikes the charged bead, which emits light that is visible from the focused spot.

The above-discussed method of laser engraver machine cooling is the mechanical one. In case of an electrical engraving system, there is a cooling fan and heat sink attached to the device. The cooling water flows through the laser tube into a heat sink and then into the evaporator, where it cools off into a gas. Hence, this cooling water flows through the laser tube, which is connected to a chiller.

Chiller is not necessary for all engravers; there are some that are fitted with a dew point chiller. A dew point chiller cools down the air surrounding the machine. This is because when laser engravers are used, air, especially during the initial part of the job, tends to get very hot and humid. This makes it hard for the laser engraver machine to get a good surface temperature and this causes some engravings not to take the shape as they should be.

One of the best ways to keep your laser engraving machine cool is to use water. If you have an evaporative cooler on your machine, you will only need to add water about every hundredth of aps. Adding water helps the cooling fan and heats up the air around the device. The more water that is added, the faster the cooling process takes place. This will make your machine cool enough to protect the laser engraving job for a long period of time.
